- What is Surveillance?
Generally ‘surveillance’ is a covert investigative technique, utilised to discreetly obtain information through observation, pertaining to the activities, movement, associates, whereabouts of a Subject and if spouses are cheating on each other. This can be accomplished by recording their activities on video/VCD/DVD in support of the written report.
- How much does a surveillance cost?
Here again, it is not possible to provide an accurate estimate of the cost without discussing the specifics and facts of information of the particular case. There are many factors that are taken into consideration before pricing is given. The information obtained from client is highly confidential and are only accepted during a personal consultation, which is no obligation. Surveillance is billed on hourly/daily/weekly basis, plus a mileage charge and additional manpower charge. Before the project is started, a strategic work plan is established based on the circumstances and your needs.
- In what type of cases is surveillance useful?
Surveillance is useful for gathering various information. Some of the information gathered through surveillance could include evidence regarding a Subject business or recreational activities, personal or business relationships, residential, employment, business locations, including civil, criminal, personal background, insurance, domestic, commercial and to locate missing and many more.
- I have never hired a private investigator, how do I get started?
Check and see if you are retaining the services of a reputable, honest licensed investigation agency. Make sure they are well established with a track record. Check and see if they have a proper approved office and not a virtual office or someone who is working on a ‘one-man-show’. Do they answer the phone as they claim in the advertisement or do you get the voicemail to answer your call? Lastly, check about the agency whilst you are talking to them. Check and see if you are at ease talking to them or are they using pressure tactics and hard sell techniques to convince you?
- I feel embarrassed about talking to someone about this?
It is common to receive calls everyday from people in relationships who suspect their spouse or others of cheating. There is nothing to be embarrassed about. What you are seeking is peace of mind about something you are not sure of. Something that is hidden in the dark! It is natural to seek to determine if your suspicions are real or imagined. We invest a tremendous part of ourselves in positive relationships. It is natural to want to determine the strength and integrity of that relationship.
- What if I am wrong?
If there is no evidence that the Subject is cheating, you will have nothing to lose, because you have gained a peace of mind about your relationship. Since our investigations are discreet and confidential, you will not have risked sacrificing the treasured relationship if you are wrong.
- Is checking on my spouse legal?
Surveillance is the process of documenting what is going on in the world of an individual. No laws are broken as long as the investigator is experienced and licensed by the authority.
- What kind of information need I give to the investigator?
You may not have all the information, however the more you have the better the strategic plan. The investigator will need a recent photograph and a complete description of the person being investigated. It would be useful if you could provide the information of the third party they are cheating with and of course, providing us with whatever information you know about them.
You need to further furnish us the mode of transport, vehicle registration number, make, model and colour of the Subject's vehicle. Importantly we need to know the driving habits of the Subject and the likely places they would frequent or visit. - How will you contact me discreetly without my spouse knowing?
The phone number that you give us to contact you must be totally secure and only you or someone you trust answers the phone. If the number is not secure, then we have to discuss other means of contacts. When we contact you the first thing we will say is "is this a good time to talk". If the subject or someone else is present and you can’t talk, you can say "no" or you can say, "you have the wrong number" or anything else. We will hang up and you can call us back when it is safe.
- What do I do once the surveillance set up?
Once the surveillance work plan is in place, it is important that you do not do anything advertently to tip off the subject that an investigation is in place. Importantly, just pretend that all is normal and do not change your usual habits or ask too many questions about their current daily activities.
- How do you follow someone?
The techniques of tailing someone is an acquired skill. When following someone we are constantly weighing two factors against each other. First we want to stay close enough to make sure we do not lose the subject at a traffic light or in heavy traffic. However we are constantly balancing this against staying close that we run the risk of being observed by the subject. The art of balancing these two factors in a variety of situations can execute well only by having an experienced investigator working the case. The investigator is required to keep a safe distance while not minimising the chance of loosing the subject. This is an ‘art of surveillance’ that only the few would master!
- Will my spouse find out that they are being watched?
Our surveillance investigations are discreet and confidential. We study and prepare ourselves with everything necessary before we conduct and launch the covert nature of the investigation. If we ever perceive that the security of the investigation is threatened, we would immediately withdraw and reconsider another surveillance tactic before continuing with the job.
- Can you guarantee that you don't lose a person while conducting Surveillance?
No. Any Surveillance investigator who tells you "I have never lost a Subject / Co-subject while conducting surveillance" is a liar. The simple truth is, people or Subjects are unpredictable, traffic is unpredictable with cameras all over the major roads, and therefore surveillance is also unpredictable. A trained and experience professional investigator minimises the risk of a Subject being lost but nobody can guarantee that will never occur especially when the Subject / Co-subject is alert. However, Worldwide Investigation & Protection do give our Clients a 'CUSTOMER SERVICE ASSURANCE", and best of all ' we give them in writing'.
- What evidence will I receive at the conclusion?
The evidence collected in surveillance consists of a full report, which details all the activity in writing. This report is supported by either videotape, VCD, DVD or MP3. Both are submitted to you, at the end of the job or if you wish we could maintain them for you.
